Floating lanterns (thả hoa đăng)

Floating flower lanterns (thả hoa đăng) is part of the old town at night. In the game you buy a lantern at the stall and float it on the river.

How to float one

1. Buy a lantern at the lantern stall. There are several kinds, such as plain, lotus and silk lanterns.
2. Go to the riverbank, stand near the water’s edge (not on a boat pier), and press Release a lantern.
3. You can write one short wish, or leave it empty.

On a boat trip you can also float lanterns at spots along the way.

Tonight’s lanterns

• Every night the whole town floats lanterns towards a shared goal. At the first mark the river lights up; at the second there are fireworks.
• The goal opens only when enough people take part, and each person counts for a limited number of lanterns, to keep it fair.

The weekly lantern board

The lanterns you float each week are ranked. At the end of the week the top players get in-game rewards and the Keeper of the week’s lanterns title.

Good to know

• There is a daily limit on lanterns bought and floated; more on a festival night.
• When the water is high the river closes and no lantern can be floated.
• Keep wishes polite: other players can report a rude one.
• Gifts that arrive while your bag is full wait in the Gift box for a while.
